Gizmo
The gizmo is a new sport fun-fly model designed by Rico Dalmau that can be used as a trainer, fun-fly every day model, or 3-D acrobatic model. The model is fully aerobatic with a symmetrical airfoil that has a very wide speed envelope. The wing will not stall. The design utilizes a plug on wing system with an aluminum tube spar through a phenolic and rear alignment pin. All main parts for model are laser cut from balsa and plywood. The tail feathers and ailerons are built from 1/4” sq. balsa, 1/4” x 1/2” balsa and laser cut parts. The wing ribs have building tabs on them for ease of assembly with a ledge on the tab for trailing edge stock jigging. Most of the setup hardware comes with the kit including wing tube system, pushrods, threaded rods and links, main landing gear, tail wheel bracket, hinges, control horns and screws.
The plans come as two sheets with construction manual and 46 B&W construction photos. The Gizmo has a 52 1/2” wingspan with 645 sq. in of wing area. The length of the model is 46 1/2” and comes in at a weight of 4 1/2 to 5 lbs. A .32 to .46 cid engine can be used with model depending on the intended use. Model requires a four channel radio with 5 servos.
The ready-to-cover version of the Gizmo is handcrafted from D&L Design's plans and comes with pre-assembled wing, tail and fuselage ready to cover. Landing gear and hardware are included.
